LEED Design

The U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) rating system is the most widely accepted manner to provide certification for a green building, and was designed to encourage and reward environmentally responsible design. To obtain engineering related credits and prerequisites a thorough knowledge and understanding of sustainable design standards and guidelines is required.

Bala is also among the first firms in the nation to develop - and successfully implement - the design/build approach to Green building design. Bala has teamed with a large commercial building developer to provide a Green design/build and commissioning program to be utilized on all of their new office buildings across the country. This unique approach provides competitively priced Green office buildings.

LEED Commissioning

The LEED commissioning process is a key element of every certification level and requires the development of a commissioning plan and testing for energy and environmentally related systems and equipment. Bala staffs an independent commissioning division of professionals that provide LEED commissioning services for projects engineered by other design firms, as well as Bala projects. Bala's Director of Commissioning has also served as the subject matter expert on LEED Commissioning for the USGBC.

Bala has provided LEED commissioning services for over 30 projects to date (sample projects). Some of our commissioning credentials include the 1st LEED-CS Platinum building in the world: Crescent One, Philadelphia, PA, and the 1st LEED-CS Gold Level, Building in Scottsdale, AZ.
