Looking to expand its offices from its D.C. roots, co-working company, MakeOffices, chose Philadelphia as its next location. MakeOffices’ location at 1635 Market Street is now one of the biggest co-working hubs in Center City. Bala was chosen to perform the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection and structural engineering services for the project.
The MakeOffices at 1635 Market project spans across three floors and includes a reception area, pantry, coffee bar, large conference rooms and typical office space. Unique amenities to the space include a game room, a relaxation room with massage chairs and a device lab for developers.
Bala performed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) services for the 57,000 square foot co-working space. Bala’s Structural Group performed structural engineering services to create an oversized floor slab opening and a steel staircase to connect multiple levels.
