NYU Langone Medical Center is one the nation’s premier academic medical centers and consists of four hospitals: Tisch Hospital, Rusk Rehabilitation, Hospital for Joint Disease and Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital. Bala provided commissioning and testing services for projects at Tisch Hospital.
Many of MEP/FP systems for the Tisch Hospital were located on a lower level and as a result were damaged or destroyed by Super Storm Sandy. Bala's project included the commissioning and testing of three electrical rooms housing a plant double ended sub-stations, switchgear, automatic transfer switches and distribution boards. We also provided commissioning oversight for a new mechanical room to house new steam equipment, chilled water pumps, hot and cold water pumps and heat exchangers which will serve two separate buildings.
The Cafeteria at Tisch Hospital was closed indefinitely after Super Storm Sandy. As part of the renovation and upgrade of the 16,000 SF cafeteria, Bala provided commissioning oversight of the HVAC systems, controls and electrical systems. The project entailed developing the commissioning plan, necessary pre-functional/functional performance test procedures, a commissioning schedule, witnessing on-site testing and reviewing third party test results. After completion of testing a system manual is produced which will include all test results, start-up documentation and manufacturer’s manuals.
