St. Christopher’s expanded and renovated their Emergency Department (ED) to meet the increasing demand for pediatric emergency services. The new ED expansion project added 14 private exam rooms and 4,300 SF. St. Christopher’s provides medical and trauma care to over 70,000 children annually.
Engineering for the newly expanded ED at St. Christopher’s required re-programming existing dental space and converting existing warehouse space to house the Immunology Department. The dental suite relocated to the 3rd floor where the Immunology Department was formerly located.
Bala engineered services to the dental chairs including water, drains, medical air and gas and electrical. The engineering required for the Immunology Department included new mechanical systems to serve the space and structural engineering for the slab to incorporate new plumbing systems.
The phased approach to this project allowed minimal disruption to the hospitals ability to provide care for its patients and provide productive work spaces for their staff.
