Bala provided engineering expertise for this Seattle-based biotechnology company’s new space at the Innovation and Design Building. This 36,500 SF space features a split between 60% lab space and 40% office space.
The laboratory space features two open labs and nine closed labs, complete with three new fume hoods, tissue culture rooms, a freezer room, glass washroom, lab storage and more than 80 overhead utility service panels. In order to support extensive lab functions, Bala’s team designed an extension of lab exhaust and makeup air systems as well as normal and standby power distribution systems from existing building infrastructure systems.
The two open offices areas, several huddle and focus rooms feature glass walls that promote visibility and collaboration between office and lab personnel.
