The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority moved its 700+ employee agency to 300 Seventh St. SW in Washington, DC. Bala was chosen to provide the MEP/FP upgrades to the building on a design-build basis with Gilbane Building Company.
The old building located at 300 Seventh St. was completely gutted and raised three floors (approximately 20,000 SF), bringing the new building to 11 stories with a new 9,500 square foot penthouse. A new rooftop terrace was added to offer views of the DC Metropolitan area.
The building also included retail space and leased space to additional tenants to provide an additional revenue stream to the transit agency.
